In the fifth installment of our monthly next-gen “lookbooks”, we’ve rounded up an exciting 13 new product releases and announcements from next-gen innovators. From the Costume Institute’s annual Met Gala to Formula 1 Racing, next-gen materials were out with force in the month of May.

  • Next-gen at the biggest night in fashion: Kicking off the month, actress and model Cara Delevigne wore a Stella McCartney designed gown made with next-gen silk at the Costume Institute’s Met Gala.
  • Not their first rodeo: Once again, fashion brands Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld released new collections prominently featuring next-gen leather alternatives.
  • Sharing is Kering: For the first time, Alexander McQueen released a product made with Demetra, a leather alternative developed by fellow Kering-owned brand Gucci.
  • Off to the Races: Sports car company McLaren debuted official teamwear made with a next-gen down alternative for the Formula 1 Grand Prix racing tournaments.
